Advanced Microscopy Core
| Core Summary: |
The Microscopy/Histology Core facilitates the ready availability of sophisticated morphological techniques by providing electron microscopic services, a confocal microscope facility, along with resource for protocols, analysis and interpretation. Preparation of frozen or paraffin sections from tissues provided by investigators will be added to the services as a fee-for-service effort in the near future.

| Services: |
- Confocal microscope use
The maintenance and supervision of the microscope, which is a complex piece of equipment. In addition, the Core Manager trains new users of the confocal microscope
- Consultation on histological and morphological analysis and interpretation
- Cryostat sectioning
Frozen blocks of tissue will be prepared by the investigator and brought to the core technician with instructions. Unstained and H&E sections and the blocks will be returned to the investigator
- Immunochemistry on ultrastructural level
- Paraffin embedding and sectioning
Fixed tissue will be prepared in investigator’s lab and brought to the core for a weekly scheduled paraffin embedding. Unstained and H&E sections and their blocks will be returned to the investigator
- Transmission electron microscopic analysis
