Genetics Core

Core Summary:

The Genetics Core was established in 1991 with the aim of promoting and facilitating genetic studies of diabetes and its complications in humans at the Joslin Diabetes Center and collaborating institutions. More than 1,000 DNA samples from human subjects have been collected in these years and are available to researchers. The Genetics Core also provides services assisting investigators in the use of these samples.

  • Access to DNA samples and clinical data from panels of diabetic patients

  • Assistance with genetic analysis

  • Data management of clinical and genetic information

  • Low-throughput SNP genotyping (Taqman platform, up to 6,000 genotypes/day)

  • Preparation of high quality DNA from human blood samples
